The Manhattan Childrens Center, a private school for children with autism located at 124
West 95th Street in New York City, hosted an Autistic Savant Art Exhibition (The Savant
Exhibition) on April 9th and 10th in honor of World Autism Awareness Month
In December 2007 The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution
designating April 2nd as World Autism Awareness Day in perpetuity starting in 2008.
The Manhattan Childrens Center is a twelve month interdisciplinary Applied Behavior Analytic
(ABA) program which combines ABA scientific methods with related services in speech, occupational
therapy and natural environment training. All instruction is provided on a one to one
individualized basis to all students ages 3-12 years.
At The Manhattan Childrens Center the goal is to help every child reach his or her
potential and become a functional member of their community.
The Savant Exhibition featured works of art by over 12 renowned,
exceptional individuals with autism. With early and effective treatment
children with autism can truly accomplish great things.
