During Autism Awareness Month, we wanted to createDuring Autism Awareness Month, we wanted to create a piece of art that we have never made before while also trying a technique we have never used. Our students used @sphero balls to make a rendition of a classic art piece - A Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh. As a school wide project, we needed to find a way to create this art piece but also maintain social distancing rules and the Sphero balls did just that. What is @sphero? Sphero’s are programmable robots and STEAM-educational tools that transform the way kids learn, create and invent through coding, science, music and the arts.Using the @sphero app, our students were able to draw images on the app that would later be drawn on the canvas with the help of the Sphero balls. Our students eyes lit up every time they pressed start and saw the balls moving. They could not wait for the balls to stop so that they could create their next image. If you want to see more of our students digital artwork, make sure to join us for our “A Star-ry Night: Digital Student Art Show and Auction” on Thursday, April 15th at 7:00 p.m. Here is the link to purchase your tickets today: http://weblink.donorperfect.com/astarrynightThank you to @sphero for lending us their Power Pack so that we could have our students create artwork.#autismawarenessmonth #autismacceptance #autismart #sphero #digitalartwork #digitalartshow #nft #nftart #astarrynight #vangogh

Thank you for helping us raise over $25,000 this GThank you for helping us raise over $25,000 this Giving Tuesday for our COVID Relief Fund. We could not do it without you.
It’s finally here!!! Today is Giving Tuesday! #It’s finally here!!! Today is Giving Tuesday! #GivingTuesday is a day to celebrate joy - to give what we have to help change our local communities, and the world! The MCC Covid Relief Fund was created to help us mitigate the ongoing and reoccurring expenses associated with continuing in – person learning. MCC buildings were retrofitted in order to accommodate smaller pods of students. Our conference rooms are now classrooms. The HVAC unit was overhauled in order to accommodate the filtration system recommended by the CDC. The filters are now replaced every two months. And of course, we have temp screening stations at every entrance, along with a digital barcode tracing program used within the building that each staff member must scan before they enter any room. We are taking all necessary steps to provide a safe learning environment so we may continue in – person learning as well as remote learning when necessary. Everyone has something to contribute (that includes a share, a like, or a comment). How are you giving back today? Click the link in our bio to find out more about our COVID Relief Fund.

Prior to re-opening, we purchased items such as thermometers, masks (surgical and KN95), face shields, hand sanitizer and other cleaning supplies. We upgraded our HVAC system and also hired additional nursing staff and team support members. We retrofitted our classrooms and office spaces with desk barriers and dividers as well as installed additional sinks in the hallways to promote more hand washing. We also invested in purchasing devices to support collaboration in the classroom as well as Google classroom.Click the link in our bio to find out more about our Covid Relief Fund. We would not be able to do what we do without the help of our MCC friends and family. We thank you for all the support you have given us during this time.
