Occupational Therapy at MCC utilizes an experiential approach to learning, with a focus on functional life skills needed in the community, whether that is riding the bus, shopping for groceries, swiping a credit card, or eating at a restaurant in the natural environment. Trained occupational therapists work hand in hand with the classroom teachers at MCC to promote skills across all areas of performance. Services are provided both in and out of the classroom to better help our students develop the skillset that they need to achieve their full potential, including fine motor, graphomotor, handwriting and typing, and self-care skills.
Students at MCC receive regular sessions of occupational therapy in individual and group settings.
Occupational therapy services at MCC are provided both individually and in a small group format, with sessions taking place in our sensory gym, our fine motor area, the classrooms, and in the community.
